Green tea extract

Green tea is a popular beverage derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, produced by steaming, pan-frying, and drying the leaves without fermentation. This process helps preserve the leaves’ natural green color and maintains their high concentration of polyphenols, particularly EGCG, which are believed to contribute to many of green tea’s health benefits.

Key Features of Green Tea:

Unfermented: Unlike black tea or oolong tea, green tea is minimally oxidized and does not undergo the oxidation process that darkens the leaves and changes their flavor.

Rich in Polyphenols: Green tea is a significant source of polyphenols, a group of antioxidants that includes EGCG.

Flavor Profile: Green tea can have a range of flavors, from grassy and vegetal to sweet and seaweed-like, depending on the processing method and variety.

Potential Health Benefits: Green tea is known for its potential health benefits, including antioxidant properties, potential to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and possible protection against certain diseases like heart disease and cancer.
