BANABA EXTRACT

Lagerstroemia speciosa, commonly known as Pride of India, Queen’s Crape Myrtle, or Banaba, is a large, fast-growing deciduous tree native to Southeast Asia and India. It belongs to the family Lythraceae.

This ornamental tree is widely admired for its large, vibrant flowers that bloom in shades of purple, pink, or lavender during the summer. The flowers are crinkled like crepe paper, giving it the name “crape myrtle.” The tree also has attractive, smooth bark and broad, oval leaves that turn red or yellow before falling.

Apart from its beauty, Lagerstroemia speciosa has significant medicinal value, especially in traditional medicine. Its leaves, bark, and flowers are used for managing diabetes, weight loss, and inflammation.

Banaba is a deciduous tropical flowering tree, 5 to 10 meters high, sometimes growing to a height of 20 meters. Bark is smooth, gray to cream-colored, and peels off in irregular flakes.
